Mercy's Tuesday Sketch #101

Good morning! It's been a few weeks since I've had the time to play along with Mercy's Tuesday Sketches, and oh, how I've missed them! This week's sketch is phenomenal and I just had to play along. The only problem was that long rectangle image. I just don't own many long, tall rectangle shaped stamps. So, when in doubt, pull out the trusty tree/branch image from Beyond Basic Borders. So simple, but I love it!

I use a blue theme on this card with yellow accents. Mostly Baja Breeze, Night of Navy, and some more October Afternoon dp. I added some golden jewels to the tips of the tree/branch to give it a little sparkle and keep the focus centered on the card. I went back and forth between blue buttons and yellow buttons... I just love buttons too much! It's too hard to choose colors! But, I ended up with yellow to try and stay with the element of three: jewels, paper, and buttons.

Today is prep day here at the house. Lots of baking! It's all warm and cozy in the kitchen with the oven cranking. :) I'm cranking out a few soy milk pumpkin pies today (I'm allergic to dairy... and this pie tastes exactly like the real deal! I've even served it without telling people it contained no milk and they never knew. hehe) to serve at Thanksgiving meals tomorrow.

This evening I am off to my parents' So Cal house to partake in some early turkey, mashed potatoes, and gravy! Apparently, dad has complained that when we only do Thanksgiving with extended family there is no left-over turkey to eat on the days after. So, Mom has made a small turkey to remedy that situation. I couldn't say no to the early invitation! Turkey today, turkey tomorrow, and more on Saturday! Oh, how I love Thanksgiving! Good food, good company... It's a beautiful combination.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Stay warm, wherever you are! Is it just me, or is it cold everywhere right now?!

  2. turkey is good and left over turkey is very good!! LOL your dad cracks me up, but it's true!! LOL That tree image is perfect for that skinny panel. Are those twinkles on the end of the branches? What are they made of? Have I misunderstood the CHA site, is there no shopping for us civilians this time round? What have you heard?
