179 to go! I officially survived my first day as a first grade teacher. I tell ya, these guys are so tiny compared to my second and third graders of the past! They were totally burned out by lunch time, and it really didn't help that we were stuck inside for all recesses due to the fires burning here in Southern California. My district is only about 3 miles from the biggest one, so the smoke is terrible right now. On top of that, our math books have not come in yet, and they estimate they won't arrive until sometime next week! AH! I'm going to have to get really creative during math time.
Needless to say, the first week of school is always a little chaotic. I bounced between 19 and 22 students throughout the day. Crazy! I think I'm settling back at 20, though, which is really nice.
I don't have a card for you today, and probably not tomorrow either. I'm pretty wiped out at the moment. More to come, especially as the weekend rolls through. :)

congrats on making it through the first day of first grade. i'm teaching first grade for the first time this year :) i love it! we are 8 days into the year, so some of the craziness is gone...thank goodness! good luck this year.
