Playing Hookey

So, I apologize for the extended silence. Heather is here! Yay! I've been off gallivanting across Southern CA, painting the town red for the last week. I did have to work a few days here and there, but we squeezed in all the fun that we could possibly have in the time allowed.

We started off by shopping until we dropped on Friday. We were both due for some serious retail therapy, and group sessions are always the best! Saturday brought a little more shopping, and then an amazing game night over at Michelle's place. We got the entire college gang back together again (minus one roommate whom now live out in PA) for the first time in several years. Needless to say, my cheeks hurt from laughing by the end of the night! A round of Disney Scene It, and then a fast and furious game of Apples to Apples is always a great combination for fun!

On Sunday, we headed to church to soak in a little down time, then we were off to the beach. We decided to head to Huntington since we knew they had fire pits and marshmallows were definitely on the agenda for the evening! Seriously, I think we chose the coldest day of the entire week to go to the beach, but it sure felt nice next to that roaring fire... and yes, we built the fire ourselves and it lit on the FIRST try! Yay!

We dipped our toes in the Pacific, played a little sand baseball, took some pictures, ate an entire bag's worth of roasted marshmallows (with some peanut butter M&Ms for variety's sake), and enjoyed God's amazing display of art. Amy (my roommate) and I were wondering why in the world we never go to the beach anymore.... we live 35-40 minutes away! It's like life takes over and we just forget to take moments to enjoy what is right around us. We had some extra firewood at the end of the evening, so now Amy and I really have no excuse not to head down there again.

Heather flies out tomorrow. :( Time definitely flies when you are having fun! I'm so glad she was able to make it down here. God really has great timing in bringing us together just when we need it the most. It was fantastic to let our hair down for a week and lift each other up through these dark times.

Enjoy the pictures!
