Sweet Sunday Sketch #21

Good afternoon. It's a great Monday afternoon here. I slept in, woke up to the sounds of my roommate practicing her flute, ran a quick errand to pick up a new printer, and made a card. Later, I'm heading over to my cousin's house for dinner and book club after that. It's a good day.

I'm not really sure if I like how this card turned out or not. I feel like it's slightly off-balanced or something, but I can't quite put my finger on what it is exactly that I'm not happy with. It was one of those cards that I just finished to simply be done with it.

I used Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch for the layout and played a little more with my Scattered Showers stamp set. I stamped the umbrella top in So Saffron and then sponged some Tangerine Tango around the perimeter for some dimension. After staring for a while longer, I framed the image by drawing some black lines. After staring some more, I added a short sentiment. After staring a while longer, I added some ribbon. Notice a trend? LOTS of staring... Maybe something will click later and I'll add it on. In the meantime, enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. This is super cute! I love that paper! I just ordered some designer paper at my monthly SU Paper Dolls class! I should have ordered that pack! Great card! I haven't played along with one of those challenges yet but I may have to with this one (if it isn't too late). I like that sketch!

  2. Fun card! I love the bright and cheery colors complete with the umbrella - very fun! Your hand drawn border is a very nice touch.
