Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #46

Good evening! Is it just me or is this week absolutely flying by? My month of November is going to be slightly on the crazy side and no doubt will go by quickly. We have lots of days off from school/work due to holidays: Veteran's Day next Wednesday, and ALL of Thanksgiving week. We also had our staff development day this past Monday. In addition, I am out tomorrow for another district meeting, and the 20th for a little trip up to Portland to visit my sister/attend the So You Think You Can Dance tour performance. My birthday is thrown in there, as well as Thanksgiving. I'm getting slightly dizzy just thinking about how rapidly this month is going to pass.

Therefore, it was great to take a few minutes (about 100 of them) to make this little card. Since I was so late with my card for Mercy's Tuesday Sketch last week, I thought I speed things up this week and get it submitted in a timely manner.

I wasn't so sure I was going to like this sketch, but that oval just kept creating an image of these mittens in my head. I love these little digital image mittens that Julee from Verve created last month! I wouldn't be disappointed if these ended up in a stamp set someday!! But in the meantime, this was officially my first digital image used on a card.... And I'm a fan! I love how simple it was to resize the image to fit my card rather than finding a stamp to fit a specific panel. Print to order! And it made for some fun coloring with my copics.
I combined a few stamp sets to create the backgrounds as well. Both are PTI sets. I embossed the polka dots in "kaleidoscope" ep. Such fun stuff. It's like a clear ep, but with shimmery glitter in it. I added some star dust stickles to the snowflakes on the mittens and a little clear jewel in the middle. I used the same jewels, just a little bigger, as the three circle pieces in the sketch.

And I just had to sneak in that EK Success punch somewhere on this card!! I gave up the purple colors, but couldn't go completely cold turkey on this card, lol.

I really love how this card turned out! The nontraditional Christmas colors, the shimmery snowy feeling... May have found my Christmas card for this year! And this picture really doesn't do the card justice. I think I might try to reshoot it in the daylight, using natural light. The special light just didn't pick up all that glittery-ness. :(

I'll be back on Friday with another card. I'm off to the ballet tomorrow night (Thursday). My mom is driving down here to So Cal to join me in seeing the American Ballet Theatre perform Giselle. We got season tickets this year to the Orange County Performing Arts Center's ballet season. So excited! Giselle is a pretty heavy "ballet" ballet... losing a little plot in the second act and simply dancing... but it's sooooo gorgeous! And the American Ballet Theatre is flat out incredible to begin with. Ahhh. It's going to be a great night!

Thanks for stopping by! See you Friday!
