Sweet Sunday Sketch #52

Good afternoon! It's a gloriously rainy day down here in Southern California. I love it! It did rain on us at Disneyland yesterday, but we were prepared. Rain coats and umbrellas in hand. We did end up leaving a little earlier than planned, but it was great to come home to a warm house, dinner, and hot chocolate. :) It rained all night and is still going strong. Another reason I'm glad today is a holiday: the kids aren't trapped inside with me all day! lol

I have my card for Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch today. I pulled out some old SU dp for this card. Remember Haiku? Love this paper! I've seriously been hoarding it since it was retired. But it seemed like the perfect happy paper for a gray and rainy day. I also pulled out some more Verve stamps for this card, and even played around with a new technique for tying bows. I think I need to play with it a little more... Maybe it works best horizontally and not vertically. I had to stick a little glue down under it to make it face the right way, hehe.

Well, enjoy your Monday! I think I might whip up a few more cards, and then curl up on the couch, under a blanket, with my new book club book. We're reading The Help and it sounds like it should be a good book. I've heard nothing but good things about it from friends whom have read it. Oh, and beef stew is in the crock pot! Yum! The house is going to smell soooo good in about two hours. :) Don't beef stew and rainy days just go perfectly together?

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Absolutely gorgeous, Kristina!! LOVE the colours you used and that pop of Old Olive is wonderful!! Beautifully balanced card. You nailed this one :D All those panels scared me off as I have trouble using just one DP on a card LOL! Will see if I get brave enough to give this one a go.

Glue away or glue dot away on those bows. I know Sharon Johnson (notimetostamp) once said she did the same thing so you are in good company LOL! Thanks for your comment on my bows - too kind. I can't do DP well, so I guess I have to try to be good at something LOL! Check out Dawn McVey's bow tying tutorial on her blog if you haven't done so already. It's a good one. The fingers through the loops is the big thing I keep in mind as it keeps the bows "fluffy". CraftyCaro also had one on her blog that I got from a link somewhere but have no idea where, and 11Valerie11 also had a good tute on her blog waaaay back when (think it was 3+ years ago). Sharon Johnson has a link to it on her blog. Enjoy your day off - reading and stamping with the smell of stew - can I come!!!

  2. that paper is perfect with the flower stamp! I too am a hoarder of paper...but there is always new stuff coming out...so I'm trying to be better :) What cheerful colours...your day sounds like fun...nothing better than dinner in the crock pot and free time to do what we wish :) The staff meeting wasn't too bad (only sketched out one card!) LOL Still having warm weather here...hey! Are you going to CHA? You live right there!! Lucky duck! Do you know if PTI will be there? Not much has been said on Nicoles' site like last summer and when I checked a few months ago they weren't listed yet. It would be fun!!
