Verve Release Challenge Card- C

Good (late) evening! I've been working all evening on a few of the challenges in honor of Verve's January release. You know I love my Verve stamps, and anytime there is a chance to win some more, I'm there!

The first of the five challenges I have to share with you is actually the third of five. I like to skip around and go where the mojo leads. :) This challenge was a color challenge hosted by Ms. Amber herself (of Viva la Verve fame!). We were to use black, gray, and turquoise together to create a card or project. Of course, I went with a card. I dug back through some old sketches past and decided on an old Mojo Monday sketch for this card. I just love the elegant feel of it, and I thought it would be a good sketch to showcase the colors without me overwhelming a card. Whenever I work with black and a bright color it scares me, lol. I have to use it sparingly to keep it calmer.

I used my slot punch to create a little spot for the bow to rest after the ribbon was wrapped around the card. A few jewels, and an edge punch pretty much finished this card off. I love the soft look the white ink created stamped on the black paper as well. It really helped "calm" the black a bit.

I'll be back tomorrow with some more Verve Release celebratory goodness! Cruise on by the Verve forum on Splitcoast for more of the challenge details! Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Oooh, love what you've created here, Kristina - mind you I always love what you make :D The PTI stamps for the BG on the one panel are fabulous and I love the big turquoise scallops on the side panel. NO sign of you being scared off by black and a bright colour, that's for sure. Gorgeous creation. Sorry about the Packers loss on the weekend...

  2. great dp!! It's perfect for this card :) great border punch too :) What a busy card week, eh? With both Verve and PTI releasing!! I also have my stampers 10 this week!! EEK!! Oh, for chipboard, Marisa had a good idea...use thick cardboard like a cereal box...punch it out and then punch out dp to fit on top :) I have a bunch of thin chipboard coasters that I can cut with my cuttlebug and a few chipboard pieces from my Stampin Up demonstrator.

I may just go home tonight now and give the challenges a go.....
Thanks for sharing and being an inspiration.
